With some people wanting short-term weight loss results, some are looking to detox and clean their body’s system with better food and literally clear out the waste in their body.

Because there are so many chemicals that we may have ingested from foods, a detox diet is good for losing weight and staying healthy. This can come from food additives, mercury, drugs, alcohol, etc. When you digest these, the body takes in the toxins and some can stay in the body and lead to other problems.

So, many have opted to detox their bodies by eating a lot of fruits such as cherries and strawberry which are foods full of ellagic acid, a nutrient that helps free radicals and help combat pollutants such as alcohol and help boos the brain power. Eating berries are full of vitamin C and E which help cleanse the body and detoxify the liver.

Eating a lot of grapes is good because they are rich in flavanols and help arteries work their maximum and help run the blood run smoothly throughout the body.

Eating prunes and fiber will help cleanse the colon stimulating the digestive area and expel waste.

An example of a sample detox to lose weight is to go on a monotrophic diet which allows for one type of fruit for each meal.

BREAKFAST:

Eat melons such as honeydew, cantaloupe or watermelon

LUNCH:

Eat oranges, grapefruits, pineapples or plums. Choose one and eat until your full.

EVENING:

Eating apples, pears, grapes or bananas. Choose one fruit and eat as much as you want until your full.

SNACKS:

You can add snacks such as a large 12 oz. Glass of freshly squeezed carrot juice.

You can vary the fruits eaten throughout the week but going for one month on a raw fruit diet can definitely improve the chances of ridding waste in the body and also help lose weight.

For fruits, you can also included fresh, frozen, dried or canned fruit in natural fruit juice. Apples, bananas, pears, oranges, grapefruit, satsumas, sultanas, raisins, pineapple, mango, kiwi, strawberries, raspberries, nectarines, peaches, melons, star fruit and grapes are good for you.

Vegetables can be included if they fresh, frozen or canned in water (Without salt). So, carrots, onions, turnips, swede, sprouts, cabbage, peppers, mushrooms, sweetcorn, peppers, leeks, broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber are also good for you. Beans and lentils are also recommended.

Foods to avoid during a detox are red meat, poultry, chicken, milk, eggs, butter and margarine. Including wheat products such as bread, pastries, etc.

Of course, a detox diet is not for everyone. Living on only fruits and vegetables can be a challenge for some people . But many feel that in addition to losing weight, a detox diet can help them with their migraine problems, digestion problems, colds and pains in the joints.

If you have been diagnosed with a health condition, it is very important to contact your physician before attempting a detox diet to lose weight. People who have heart disease, cancer or have a kidney disease are forbidden in doing a detox diet.
